Its break time from today's kitchen adventures. Squash soup is simmering ready to be pureed for dinner, and squash seeds are roasted with tamari and olive oil. Its the quiet hour between socializing and preparing, and I'm taking a minute to look over my new wordpress website. www.thewrightdoctor.com

I decided to switch for the wordpress sophistication. The ability to have people sign up for new entries and the multiple linking ability is superior for my long term needs - and, once I actually need a full website I will own the domain. However, I find the wordpress sight harder to navigate and understand. I am taking some time to read abut pingbacks and permalinks, before I fully transition.  Meanwhile, a quick post on a domestic saturday afternoon.

Year 3, Session 1

I have been taking a Master Homeopathy class for the past 2 years. Its a few weekends a year, and in June my partner and I went to Vancouver to take a weekend course I had missed the previous year. We went to Van in part to take the course, to have some vacation time, and also to city-shop for potential future livability. Vancouver itself failed for my partner - she found the city dirty, the people unfriendly, and the overall city vibe to "big city" for her.

Seattle, on the other hand, won both of our hearts. The food was delicious, the people friendly, the shopping and coffee divine. The Smoked Salmon Benedict !!! And, a looming impressive mountain and serene salt water bay in the same city...priceless.... The only downfall was a serious lack of decaf black tea available - a note to the wise, BYODBT.  Of course, a move to the west coast is still a few years away, and dependent on a series of events falling like dominos that we are just in the process of setting up.

Todays course is on Miasms and Nosodes, this hours session on fungal remedies. This course has elevated me several eschalons in my case taking and prescribing ability from where I was 2 years ago. www.louisklein.com, www.luminoshomeopathy.com. I have consoled myself on the acupuncture front with the knowledge that I do have this whole other aspect my my training. I will perfect and focus on my homeopathic knowledge base for the next year at Akari. Meanwhile,  Lisa and I can both  figure out where we want to settle for the long term, and what kind of graduate school we will each pursue....maybe have a baby.

On The Rocks

I just figured out I probably wont be able to practice acupuncture in the States due to their TCM Masters Degree based classroom hours requirements. Im crushed. I do so much acupuncture every week. I rely on it for my fertility treatments. Who will I be as a Dr without it?

Tiny Pumpkins

Heading to St Lawrence market today to pick up some of the tiny decorative pumpkins and a pile of apples for my clinic www.360healthcare.com.  We have had a huge amount of changes at 360 lately - Dr Danielle Gilas DC was with us for almost 5 years, and she recently left to work closer to her new west west end condo. She was very keen on the marketing weekend seminars, "make your millions" type self help inspirational stuff. Not my style - but, I did learn some through her by osmosis - and, she had a very successful practice. After one seminar, she came into work with a large glass bowl, and some apples. "Increasing value of the visit" was the theme. As in, what Else can we offer our clients to improve their 360 experience beyond the great treatment? I turned my nose up at the time, not wanting to take on grocery shopping for the clinic, but I have since decided she was onto something!!

I have always done some minor holiday decorating at 360. Last year I was so unhappy I never even unpacked the Russian St Nick that always comes out in December. This year I am re-inspired! So, heading out for tiny pumpkins & fresh crisp Ontario apples.  I am going to bring the spider-shaped bowl from home, and maybe even hang a few rubber bats in the window. Celebrating the harvest, and decorating the clinic finally feels appropriate again.

There is a reason I dont Consult 8 Balls about Business

On the inevitable facebook today, a friend posted the 8ball link. (warning, predict at your own risk)

http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~ssanty/cgi-bin/eightball.cgi

I have in fact, sworn off horoscopes,  tarot cards, and definitely magic 8balls during this transition because its all so unknown and frightening and exciting and prone to misinterpretation. And,  I am easily influenced. However, I asked the question. I asked if the new Mystery ND i am working with will end of buying my practice. "outlook not so good." I re-asked. "the answer is no." I have actually been prepared for this, and have a contingency plan in place. I just re-advertise, and start interviewing applicants again. It has to be the right person, and I will trust that that person will come along. At the right time.

So, If the 8ball was right and this opportunity doesn't pan out - well, I will stay in Toronto and at 360 Health Care a little longer, until the right person comes along.

The Configuration

First Blogpost - might as well be the goodbye letter I sent via the 360 newsletter! To sign up for this tasty monthly newstidbit of research and toronto/local information go to www.360healthcare.com.

" It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." ~ Charles Darwin

According to Darwinism, 360 will continue to thrive and survive! 360 Health Care has been through so many changes lately, and another big one is about to take place.

Masina Wright ND will be leaving the clinic as of mid December. As of January 1st, 2011 she will be living in Portland, Maine by the ocean. This is a big change for everyone, and rest assured we will try and make the transition as easy as possible. She already has a new ND coming on board as of November 1st as a trial run - this will be an opportunity for our 360 circle of care to meet her, and for her to become familiar with Masina's patients and treatment principals. Masina will remain practicing at 360 until mid December, and would love to see all of her patients from the past 10 years! (Book soon:) ) Masina also intends to remain available for patients consulations and second opinions via Skype, phone and email at her new work location. She will be practicing Naturopathic Medicine with a beautiful spa in the historic Old Port. www.akaribeauty.com. Masina will be 2 hours north of Boston - still on the Grid! She has also started a blogspot www.thewrightdoctor.blogspot.com and is often on twitter @thewrightdoctor.

*Thank You All*

I am so grateful for the past 10 years at 360 Health Care. We started it, new graduates all of us, with a vision for health care and a better future. And, ten years later the clinic stands firm and beautiful and thriving and surviving with new fresh visionaries at the wheel.
